Episode 125: It' Ain’t Over

It’s L. Joy’s birthday but she still has a few civic lessons for us. We are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and while we continue to wear our masks and social distance to keep our families safe we all want to know how we come out of this crisis. L. Joy talks to Howard University President Wayne Frederick on how Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s) are handling COVID-19 testing at their schools and surrounding communities and some of the challenges and conspiracy theories concerning research, vaccines and health disparities in Black communities.

While L. Joy is a long way away from collecting a Social Security check her concern on whether the program will still be there when she is of age is a thought shared by so many. Max Ritchman, the President of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare comes to the front of the class to educate us on Social Security and how the Trump Administration endangers the program.
